Did Psychedelics Turn You LGBTQCIA+?

(trigger warning times infinity-- but I love everyone)

Hello my straight and gay, trans and cis loveybunnies!!

In a recent IG vid, Mattha Busby summarized some research on this topic and the conclusion is pretty much inescapable: between 10-20% of people who use psychedelics become more LGBTQCIA+. Or something like that.

U-Dont-Exist.com is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

I did a deep dive with Gemini Pro on this topic and it agreed 100% (tho I was eventually able to talk some sense into it). Then I did a quick search with Grok 4 Fast, and although it mostly agreed, it also found some contrary evidence. Especially this thread, where someone realized on iboga that they might only think they are gay due to sexual trauma they went thru as a child. A number of other folks in the thread had similar experiences.

The echo chamber effect seems to be unbelievably powerful in this case.. somehow, everyone who became more LGBTQCIA+ congregates in the same threads and studies, away from those who became less. But it makes a lot of sense, because nobody wants to come out of the closet unless they can count on some support. So you would not come out on a transgender subreddit and tell everyone that you realized you weren’t transgender. Instead, you might come out and say that on an anti-transgender subreddit so as to receive likes and praise rather than accusations of being an agent of the cishetero Satan. As for the studies, they are generally recruiting people from forums which are already liberal-leaning, so it makes sense they see few people who change from homo to hetero or trans to cis. In addition, the studies are not being fully read, because it’s easier to just glance at abstracts or not even look at the abstract and just hope AI is not hallucinating.

One example is this study, which found that nearly all the psychedelic experiences that changed people’s sexuality or gender orientation were with one drug: LSD. And it also found that while 80% of transgenders felt more comfortable with their body after LSD, 11% felt less comfortable. On the other hand, what does it really mean for a trans person to feel more comfortable with their body? Isn’t that sort of the opposite of what it means to be trans? Trans people these days are supposed to want to change their body, continuously, by taking hormones, and thru surgeries.

My guess is, it really, really matters who you take LSD with, since mind-melds are a known phenomenon. You might think you’re gay now, just because you linked up with the mind of your gay buddy without realizing it was his mind, not yours, or even because your gay buddy tried to convince you that you are gay while you were in trance. It also matters how much you understand about reality. For example, I once had a dream that lasted a lifetime (not on drugs btw) where I was a woman in the 60s-70s or so. Many people who meditate or take psychedelics do remember past lives. But if you don’t believe in past lives and you experience a past life as a different gender, then you might start to think you actually currently are that gender.

And speaking of echo chambers, in tribal societies (which were the O.G. echo chambers) there’s almost zero LGBTQCIA+. Of course, the AI and fact check sites will say this is all wrong because some Native American tribes have their “two-spirit” people. But two-spirits are not gay nor transgender. In many Indigenous traditions, two-spirit is not a personal label but a community-bestowed role based on spiritual calling, often involving heterosexual family structures while fulfilling sacred duties like sun dances or storytelling, as noted in elder testimonies and historical records. It originally is a belief that all of us contain the spirit of the sky and the spirit of the Earth which must synergize.

The Sangoma tribe in South Africa is always referenced for some reason as accepting transgender something or other, but they do not. That’s another two-spirit and even spirit-possession thing going on. There are some homosexual and transvestite tribal rituals and stages (akin to how hetero sailors are known to often have gay sex until they come to land to find women) but there are no lifetime homosexuals nor any actual transgenders.

Anywho, tribal societies very often used natural psychedelics, especially ayahuasca and iboga, so it can’t be true that psychedelics are the root cause of people changing to be more gay or transgender, but rather i think that psychedelics can sometimes help people unravel oppressive conditions in their minds...

For example, if you somehow know at some level that you are gay because you got raped as a child by your uncle (LGBTQCIA+ folks are 3-5x more likely to have been abused as children), then psychedelics might help you to realize you actually aren’t gay. On the other hand, if you are a bit effeminate but never wanted to consider you might be gay, because your parents would disown you, then psychedelics might allow you to embrace the possibility that you are gay, as a way to liberate you from the trauma of not fitting the stereotypes etc., and then allowing you to actually fit into some group of people and feel like you belong (Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria). In a tribal setting, everyone already feels they belong, so they don’t need to become gay or transgender in order to feel more of a sense of belonging -- it would not be liberating. There would be nobody who would accept them this way, let alone treat them as special and above the others.

Another thing to consider is that psychedelics increase openness to experience and mental flexibility in general, so for example, even if you don’t think you are gay, you might become open to testing out whether you are gay or not, by cuddling, kissing, or having sex with someone of the same sex, to see how that feels. Sometimes people do this and then they realize they definitely are not gay because they didn’t like it. But if you’re really high then you might enjoy pretty much anything (i once really enjoyed licking the earth outside)... and then later you will say “I really enjoyed gay sex! wow! I guess I am gay!” but actually you aren’t gay, but you’ve sort of tricked yourself into thinking you are based on one experience.

In my own personal experience, ayahuasca and male iboga make me feel much more masculine, while loveyhuasca and female iboga make me feel feminine, and I have to admit that it does feel wonderful to feel feminine. However, i never felt like i was an actual woman in a man’s body. I never felt attraction to men, and in fact one time i felt so much revulsion at the thought of homosexuality when on a crazy high dose of ayahuasca.

It’s also interesting that some people (including some I know personally) report going from gay to straight after parasite cleansing. Different psychedelics cleanse different parasites. Even different preparation methods of ayahuasca lead to cleansing different parasites (Syrian rue, for example, is more antiparasitic than B. caapi or pure harmalas). Perhaps LSD is not cleansing the right parasites, and maybe it’s even feeding some of the wrong ones. Perhaps it also depends on the purity of the LSD, because most LSD is really junk and highly strange. Perhaps the toxins released during the parasite cleanse can do more damage than people think (which is why everyone should buy ZHoly3O to prevent that). And let’s not forget about the ubiquitous pesticides like atrazine, which at very low concentrations, turn frogs and reptiles into hermaphrodites, and also disrupt hormones in humans in ways we don’t understand.

Here we have people who lost their gender dysphoria and de-transitioned after a shroom trip:

Any legit research should take all these factors into account. The fact that there is no research taking these factors into account indicates that intelligence is highly specialized, modularized, and quarantined in our modern world, leading to all kinds of bizarre beliefs.

By the way, I have nothing against LGBTQCIA+ folks at all. I wish everyone to be healthy and happy. Love and let love, responsibly. But I also have nothing to say in favor of the modern LGBTQCIA+ movement (and even a lot of the LGB want a divorce from the TQ). I wish they would stop trying to teach kids to question their gender and sexual orientation, and their pride parades really make them look perverted. I do not believe that LBGTQCIA+ individuals should try to become hetero cisgenders. I do believe they should heal whatever traumas they have stored inside and do some parasite cleansing, rather than revel in whatever their current identity is.

It makes more sense to be gay now than ever before!
