Vagal Blitz Breathwork Gives Best Sleep & Immune Boost Ever!

Buteyko bonus: stop over-breathing, fix sleep, anxiety, health

Hello my lovey bunnies!

Before I talk about this cool new Vagal Blitz breathwork technique I developed, I must do a quick Public Service Announcement: It only takes a minute to check your BOLT score to determine if you are over-breathing. A healthy adult has a score of 40+. Below 20 is a sure indicator of chronic anxiety, sleep and health problems.

If your score is low, Buteyko breathwork and mouth-taping at bedtime (if your mouth opens when sleeping) are the the most validated ways to reduce chronic over-breathing, which is one of the root causes of sleep apnea, post-nasal drip, poor sleep, physiological anxiety (which can loop into psychological), asthma, and general poor health.

Now that we’ve covered the basic health aspects of breathing better, let’s move onto the fun stuff!

Vagal Blitz Breathwork is like Free, Healthy Ketamine While Bungie Jumping!

I’m sure you’ve heard of Wim Hof Breathwork, and you may have heard of Tibetan Tummo Breathwork. I used to practice Wim Hof, but I started modifying it (semi-consciously?) because it was not giving me the deepest reset benefits that I knew were possible. I didn’t know anything about Tummo, but I was actually incorporating some parts of that practice and some additional parts (which are actually discouraged in Tummo practice as it is more of a sober meditation than a full release).

The outcome for me was two-fold.

  1. INFINITELY BLISSFUL SLEEP: I was able to use this technique while lying down in bed to fall asleep/pass out. It’s a bit scary to pass out like this at first, but you will just naturally experience it after trying for a little while… and if not, you can try the drug-assisted approach (rue or cannabis, as explained below). If you do it half-well, you’ll at least go to sleep easily, and probably get deeper sleep than normal. If you do it really well and truly lose consciousness, you can wake up feeling like you’re on a really good dose of therapeutic-grade MDMA: not stimulation, just super heart chakra love, and infinite bliss and relaxation.

  2. SUPER IMMUNE BOOST: I had a bad flu and felt terrible (maybe it was covid, idk). Although I didn’t want to use my little energy to do the Vagal Blitz, I did it anyway as I heard this should help with infections etc. Within 3 minutes, I felt all better! The next day I fell sick again, so I did the same thing for 3 minutes, and I was fine after that.

  3. DEEP STRETCH OF SACRUM: The sacral spine is very often compressed in people due to standing, walking, and lack of proper stretching. You should feel a really nice stretch there as the diaphragm pushes down and back, which is difficult to replicate in any other way.

⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY PROTOCOLS

1. MANDATORY POSITIONING: Lying Down Only

  • The Risk: This technique relies on IVC Occlusion (cutting off blood flow to the heart) and Hypotension. Performing this standing or sitting will cause immediate Syncope (fainting). You must be lying on your back with legs stretched out to prevent fall trauma and ensure airway safety.

3. CARDIOVASCULAR WARNING

  • Contraindications: Do not practice if you have Aneurysms, severe Hypertension, Glaucoma (eye pressure), or are Pregnant.

2. MENTAL HEALTH WARNING

  • Contraindication: This technique deliberately triggers a “Terror Reflex” (Sympathetic Storm) followed by a crash.

  • Risk: For individuals with High Anxiety, Panic Disorder, or CPTSD, this can induce a panic attack or destabilize the nervous system rather than relax it.

    • Alternative: These individuals should use the Bhramari (Humming Bee) Technique first. It stimulates the Vagus nerve gently via vibration (parasympathetic) without the adrenaline spike.

    • Note: If you still wish to try Vagal Blitz, start very slowly (no hyperventilation, just the squeeze) to test tolerance.

🧱 LONG-TERM MAINTENANCE: Nutrition & Cycling

1. THE “TWITCH” PREVENTION (Electrolytes)

  • The Problem: Hyperventilation blows off CO2, creating Respiratory Alkalosis (alkaline blood). When blood is too alkaline, hemoglobin binds oxygen too tightly, causing the cells’ mitochondria to work anaerobically (without oxygen), which is also how cancer cells work. When mitochondria don’t use oxygen, they overproduce lactic acid, which then ironically causes metabolic acidosis, so the blood becomes acidic because it was too alkaline. Then, the kidneys must dump negatively charged bicarbonate from the blood to bring pH back up to 7.4 to keep you alive, but that requires also dumping a positive ion: magnesium, potassium, or even sodium.

  • The Symptom: Long-term Wim Hof/Tummo practitioners, as well as over-breathers, often develop chronic muscle twitching (”tetany”), tinnitus, or cramping.

  • The Fix: You MUST supplement with Magnesium (take an Epsom salt bath, or eat plenty of pumpkin seeds) and Potassium (or eat potassium-rich foods like avocados/bananas), and sometimes also sodium, to buffer these pH shifts. See the full stoichiometric remineralization guide from Gemini.

  • Rule of Thumb: If you feel “buzzy” or twitchy outside of the session, your electrolytes are depleted.

2. CYCLING: Avoiding “Adrenal Burnout”

  • The Risk: This technique spikes Adrenaline higher than a bungee jump. Doing this every single day can lead to HPA Axis Dysregulation (often called Adrenal Fatigue). Your receptors can desensitize, leaving you feeling tired or “flat” when not practicing.

  • The Schedule: Treat this like High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

  • Recommended: 2–3 times per week, or “2 days ON, 1 day OFF.”

  • Listen to your Body: If you wake up with a high resting heart rate, urine pH over 6.5-7, or feel “wired but tired,” take a break.
