This is a long meandering vid which I didn't rehearse at all obviously. Kinda Joe Rogan freestyling. I personally had a lot of painful realizations over the past few months, which culminated today.
In this video I examined how I led myself into specifically being deceived by the fake iboga shaman, Sidney Simila, and how that was basically due to my own misguided desire to help people in a way they wanted to be helped, despite the fact that I don't truly believe in such approaches at a fundamental level. But I am only now understanding that my own authenticity (including being of limited utility) is more actually useful than trying to find “miracle workers” for others. Even if Sidney were legit, a miracle worker is always some kind of magician which we don't understand, and what we don't understand can't be the source of liberating insight.
And it's not just about Sidney of course, but I am using that situation as a lens to help myself understand myself. Same applies to idealizing anyone, anything, any relationship.
New Agers like to just move on and flow but I don't believe anyone really heals from time. We heal from humble, gentle curiosity, insight, and reflection, with a good dose of self-compassion. 🫶🏿🤗🦕
